I was building new kitchen cabinets in my loft apartment, and midway through the project realized I could put a hood into the bottom of one of the cabinets. I am so, so damn grateful for having this brain spark, it's been a far more radical shift in the kitchen than the cabinets themselves. No more greazy haze! No more fire alarms! Even the light over the oven makes cooking better! I can't compare this to other hoods but it seems fantastic. The description says it can run "ductless," and that's where I have a couple dings against the company. First, running ductless requires some smoke filters. They are not carried on Hauslane. Hauslane, if you're selling a thing on Hauslane, and it requires a part, that part has to be on Hauslane.Second, the instructions don't really say anything about _how_ to install it for ductless use. We were able to sort of figure it out, but the instructions say nothing. The Hauslane FAQs weren't very helpful, and we couldn't even find anywhere to re-download the manual PDF to see if there was an updated version. So: very decent hardware. Mediocre support and ancillary materials.
